Biomaster partner Galloways has announced a major new investment to complete a long-running project to improve the efficiency and automation of its print operations.
The Cheshire-based company works with some of the biggest brands in the UK, and has signed a multi-product deal with Heidelberg to take delivery of the latest digital and litho technologies.
The company plant list now includes a new Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102. The litho B1 press can be made ready for print in six minutes and runs at a maximum speed of 16,500 sheets per hour.
Meanwhile a new digital press, which was been delivered and installed in early February, has increased Galloways digital capacity by 250%, allowing them to print a huge range of substrates up to 450gsm board at a sheet size capable of producing A4 landscape brochures.
Galloways supplies customers from all types of sectors, especially in healthcare, food industry and education, who make use of their Biomaster antimicrobial print and protected paper.
In hygiene critical situations, every step should be taken to reduce cross-contamination as studies have shown that bacteria such as MRSA can survive on paper for up to 38 weeks.
This means that materials as innocuous as patient files, folders and wall mounted posters can become potential transmission points for harmful bacteria to spread.
Biomaster is easily added either during the manufacture of any uncoated paper, or by size press treatment to any coated paper or board (including xerographic paper, file folders, packaging and carbonless paper) to provide effective and lasting antimicrobial paper protection.
Director Matt Galloway says: "We have monitored the market for a long time, and with any significant investment we had to ensure it was the right fit for the company and our client base.
As well as installing the new presses, we have overhauled our studio software to give a fully integrated system to allow automated proofing– essential in todays print market to meet turnarounds required."
